2hot is the third track of WeekEnd 1 and the 25th track of Friday Night Funkin' overall. It was released on the 30th of April, 2024. It appears on Friday Night Funkin' OST Vol. 3.

The opponent for this track is Darnell.

Song Effects

Occasionally, during Pico's turn, Darnell will throw cans of spray paint at Pico. The player will have to hit the last two notes of that section to have Pico shoot the can. Failure to hit those notes will cause the can to explode in Pico's face, making him take substantial damage, much more than missing an ordinary note.

A special Game Over animation plays if the player dies by a spray paint can explosion as opposed to simply missing notes normally.

Version History

  • 0.6.0
    • Easy and Normal difficulties were recharted, altering their note counts: 342/448 -> 348/466;
    • Scroll speeds across all difficulties were increased: 2.6/2.6/2.6 -> 2.7/2.7/2.8.
  • 0.6.3
    • Easy difficulty was recharted, altering its note count from 348 to 357.

Trivia

  • Darnell, Lit Up and 2hot were accidentally leaked late March 2022 through a link to the test build of an unreleased update found in the GitHub repository for Friday Night Funkin'.[1][2] The songs were confirmed to be real as PhantomArcade revealed that IvanAlmighty was the one who did the voice for Darnell in these songs.[3]
    • Unlike the previous two songs, 2hot received the least number of changes when comparing the leaked and final versions; outside of tweaked sound mixing, the finalized version of 2hot sounds essentially identical to the leaked version.
      • Additionally, 2hot was originally named "Hot" in-game, likely due to the game's code not recognizing numbers in the titles.[4]
  • This track is the first and currently only song in the game with special events that affect gameplay.
    • Additionally, this is the only track in the game so far to have multiple Game Over animations by dying via different means. One Game Over animation is seen by losing health normally, and another is seen by dying to one of Darnell's spray cans.
  • Specific parts of the song's vocal track are cut off in-game by Pico shooting Darnell's spray cans. Thus, the full vocal track can only be heard on the OST. This is the only track so far where this is the case.
  • This is the first track in the game to have a number in its name.
  • "2hot" is likely a play on the phrase "too hot".
  • Pico's animation for whenever he shoots a spray can originally looked different. According to EliteMasterEric, Pico's arm was a separate asset from his body that would position differently every time based on where the cans landed. It was ultimately scrapped as the cans always landed in the same position, leading to the current animation that plays in-game.[5]
