brekkist, also known as beck, is an American artist and animator. He is a co-artist and co-animator for Friday Night Funkin'. He is mainly responsible for cutscene animation and background art, along with designing certain pieces of merchandise and promotional art.
Involvement
brekkist's involvement in Friday Night Funkin' began when he posted fanart of the game's characters on Twitter. He would later draw with PhantomArcade art for the Friday Night Funkin' cassette tape[1] and help with the Smile Good, Boyfriend! comic.[2]
When the WeekEnd 1 update released, brekkist was revealed to have become a co-artist and co-animator: he helped with various things for the game, including the transition stickers,[3] backgrounds and cleanup for the cutscenes,[4][5][6] and additional animation; specifically, he animated the smoke on Pico from his Game Over animation from 2hot and cleaned up the scene where Pico and Darnell fight each other at the beginning of WeekEnd 1's end cutscene.[7] brekkist also designed the background for the remix visuals of Week 2.[8]
PhantomArcade considers brekkist a better artist than himself.[8]
On the 1st of January, 2025, brekkist fell into controversy after it was revealed that he had drawn NSFW artworks involving underage characters in the past.[12][13]
