On the left is a sketch with mostly black linework of a design for Boyfriend that closely resembles his final design, with the prohibition sign on his shirt being colored red, although there are zigzags on his shoes here. On top of this sketch is red, mostly all-caps text that reads "evilsk8r pass". The background is very light blue. To the right, after an empty black area, there is the earliest concept design for Boyfriend, in which he is medium-light cyan and has black outlines around him, the linework within the black outlines being dark blue; he is still chibi here, but his shirt is long and covers his legs, the red prohibition sign on his shirt is not present, and his eyes are more circular and a bit scribbled, making him somewhat resemble Shin-chan. To the right of this design is an early version of what would end up being Boyfriend's final design; he almost looks the same as his final sprite, but he has magenta hair, blue shoelaces, more oval-shaped eyes like in evilsk8r's pass, a different smile that isn't toothy, and no shading. Above the magenta-haired Boyfriend design is red all-caps text that reads "Phantom Arcade pass". The background of the canvas containing the last two mentioned designs is gray. |
