David Axel Cazares Casanova, better known online as Sr Pelo or simply Pelo, is a Mexican artist, animator, comedian, and voice actor. He contributed to Friday Night Funkin' by providing the use of his characters Skid and Pump from his animated web series Spooky Month.

Involvement

After Ludum Dare 47 concluded, ninjamuffin99 and the rest of the team had plans to work further on the game. This included bringing the game over to Newgrounds to share it to a wider audience. During this time, PhantomArcade reached out to Sr Pelo, a creator on Newgrounds, to ask if he could receive permission to use his characters to include in the game. Pelo was more than happy to bless this request, leading to Skid and Pump's inclusion in the game as the opponents of the Halloween-themed Week 2. In addition, Pelo provided the individual voices for both Skid and Pump for Kawai Sprite to use for Week 2's first 2 tracks: Spookeez and South.[1]

Pelo is also helping The Funkin' Crew Inc. translate the game into Spanish, as was revealed by PhantomArcade in a stream. One such example is translating Tankman's voice lines in Spanish and then teaching JohnnyUtah how to properly enunciate the words so that he can say them himself.[2]

Trivia

  • Sr Pelo was originally known as "I-Freez" and later "123pendejos", which means "123fools" in Spanish. He later changed his username to Sr Pelo, which originated from when he was given the nickname "Pelo Concha," which translates to "Pussy Hair," by 2 friends from high school.[3] He continued to use this nickname in university, where one of his teachers eventually said they would call him "Pelo" or "Sr Pelo" due to "Pelo Concha" being inappropriate.[4]
    • His current username translates to "Mr. Hair."
  • Sr Pelo has made several references to Friday Night Funkin' in his animated series Spooky Month:
    • In "Spooky Month 3 - Unwanted Guest," Boyfriend makes a cameo appearance as a plushie.[5]
    • In "Spooky Month 4 - Deadly Smiles," when Skid and Pump sneak behind Susie during her live stream, one of the viewers asks in the chat "ARE THOSE THE KIDS FROM MONDAY NOON MOVING?"[6] in reference to the fact that some fans mistakenly believe that Skid and Pump are from Friday Night Funkin'. Additionally, a drawing of Skid and Pump on Skid's refrigerator references their appearance in Friday Night Funkin'.[7]
    • In "Spooky Month 5 - Tender Treats," one of the individuals who's bullied by Roy is dressed as Boyfriend.[8]
    • In "Spooky Month - Kevin's Dream Job," Boyfriend makes a cameo rap battling Skid and Pump at Kevin's shop. Additionally, Skid and Pump's pose during the rap battle references their appearance in Friday Night Funkin'.[9]
