Bassetfilms, or simply Basset, is an American artist, animator, songwriter, singer and storyboard artist. He has contributed to Friday Night Funkin' with a few tracks and helped design and voice the character known as Monster along with PhantomArcade.

Involvement

In October of 2020, Bassetfilms was approached by PhantomArcade to contribute to the game with a horror-related track similar to the one from Basset's recent Newgrounds cartoon at the time (likely referring to "What's in the Bathtub?", which was released mid-October of that year).[1] Basset would go on to produce the track Monster. However, the song would ultimately go unused in the game and simply left inside the files due to issues related to mapping the track's notes, leaving the upcoming Week 2 a track short.

In addition to music, Basset and PhantomArcade also teamed up to create a monster design. Similarly to how PhantomArcade and evilsk8r worked on character designs, Basset passed rough concept art and initial designs to PhantomArcade, who then used the material to eventually create a final design. This design would turn out as the lemon-headed creature known as Monster. However, much like his track, he went unused as well.

Sometime later, in preparation for Week 5, Basset would contribute another track to the game titled Winter Horrorland. This track would be his first to be included in the game and properly introduce Monster as an opponent.

With the release of Week 7, Monster and his eponymous song would officially be added to Week 2 as originally intended.
