Kevin Takami, better known by his online alias Saster or Sub0ru, is a Japanese-American musician and voice actor best known for his works in various online fandoms, such as the Friday Night Funkin' fandom. Saster is now serving as a guest composer for the official Friday Night Funkin' soundtrack.
Involvement
Saster's involvement in Friday Night Funkin' started when he co-composed the song "Tormentor" for the Friday Night Funkin': Corruption mod alongside another mod composer named SimplyCrispy. Saster would then go on to compose multiple songs for other various mods like Indie Cross, Starlight Mayhem and Vs. Impostor v4.
On the 15th of December, 2022, ninjamuffin99 would reveal during an AMA on /funkg/ that someone from the mod community was recently hired to work on the official game.[1] On the 16th, PhantomArcade would follow up in a tweet that he was "the one to nab em", and that he "just nabbed another" person from the mod community to help work on the game.[2] While it is unknown who was hired first by the developers, Saster and fellow Friday Night Funkin' mod composer Saruky would both be revealed to officially be part of The Funkin Crew Inc. on the 30th of April, 2024.
Currently, Saster has co-composed the ERECT remix for Thorns.
Trivia
- Both Saster's and Saruky's involvement were accidentally leaked hours before the WeekEnd 1 update released due to an error with DistroKid uploading the Friday Night Funkin' OST Vol. 3 albums on streaming platforms earlier than intended.
- Saruky and Saster are so far the only confirmed composers from the Friday Night Funkin' mod community to have any official involvement with the game.
