--- Music Co-Director in Friday Night Funkin' ---
― Twitter bio

Saruky, also known as Saru, is a Mexican musician, artist, and graphic designer. He is well-known in the Friday Night Funkin' fandom for creating and assisting in many notable mods. He is now serving as a co-composer for the official game. He composes many tracks for the game and helps Kawai Sprite manage the Funkin' Sound Team with crisp.

Involvement

Saruky's involvement with Friday Night Funkin' began when he co-composed the song "Deathmatch" for the Friday Night Funkin': Corruption mod with fellow mod composer DatDavi. Afterwards, he would be involved in other mods like Vs. Impostor, Vs. Shaggy, and Indie Cross. He would then develop his own mod named Hotline 024, which gained major popularity in the community.

On the 15th of December, 2022, it would be revealed by ninjamuffin99 via an AMA on /funkg/ that someone from the community was recently hired to help work on the official game.[1] The day after, PhantomArcade would reveal in a tweet that he was "the one to nab em", and that he "just nabbed another".[2] Both Saruky and fellow Friday Night Funkin' mod composer Saster were eventually revealed to be part of The Funkin' Crew Inc. on the 30th of April, 2024, when the WeekEnd 1 update released.

During a Twitch live stream on the 27th of June, 2024, PhantomArcade would reveal that he picked Saruky and Saster to join the music team due to him being fans of their work, and that he asked the two to join when the ERECT remixes were being made.[3]

During the development of the WeekEnd 1 update, Saruky has recreated the vocals for most of the ERECT remixes added in said update. According to him, these changes were made in order to make the gameplay less unfair and the melodies more memorable, or simply adjust sections.[4][5] He felt that the original vocal melodies didn't work because they seemed "random" and "out of place", and just for the sake of being different, fast, or harder.[6]

Trivia

  • Saruky often used a persona for his online activity, the most notable one being a woman with tan skin, a completely black head with black puffy hair, a jacket, headphones, and a blue beanie with the word "BANGER" written on it. Saruky's usage of this persona has largely fallen out of favor, but the character is still used on occasion, having become a separate OC known as Mitzuwave.[7]
  • Both Saruky and Saster's involvement were accidentally leaked hours before the WeekEnd 1 update released due to an error with DistroKid uploading the Friday Night Funkin' OST Vol. 3 albums on streaming platforms earlier than intended.
  • Saruky, Saster, fabs, Sugar Moon, DozenRahyz, IGJH, gackt enzo, Funni342, DegoDraws, and bbpanzu are currently the only people from the Friday Night Funkin' modding community known to be involved with the official game.
  • On the 31st of December, 2021, Saruky would upload his own take on the then-just-unveiled South ERECT,[8] which was uploaded by Kawai Sprite on the 29th of that same month. Most of the vocals from his fan remix are now used in the official version of South ERECT due to his co-composing the song with Kawai Sprite.
    • Sometime in early 2023, Saruky would unlist his fan remix of South ERECT on YouTube.[9] While there is no confirmed reason, it was likely that, due to him officially joining the development team around that time, his remix had become a "leak" retroactively. Strangely, his fan remix of DadBattle ERECT was also unlisted around that same time,[10] despite having no involvement in that remix, as Kawai Sprite is credited as the sole composer.
  • Saruky has been creating music since he was 12 years old.[11]
    • Before Friday Night Funkin', he was inspired by dubstep and the Undertale community. After the FNF demo was released, Saruky would find inspiration in Kawai Sprite.
  • Saruky also serves as the manager for the official FNF_Developers TikTok account.[12]
