Trivia
DadBattle stands out as the only new song made for Week 1, as both Bopeebo and Fresh originally appeared in the Ludum Dare prototype of Friday Night Funkin'.
Although the song is titled "DadBattle" in-game, it is titled "Dad Battle" with proper spacing on Friday Night Funkin' OST, Vol. 1 and on Kawai Sprite's YouTube channel. Prior to the WeekEnd 1 update, it was titled "Dadbattle" with a lowercase b in-game; this stylization is still used on streaming platforms for the remixes.
DadBattle used to be the first track where both Boyfriend and his opponent harmonize, but after the Week 7 update that recharted almost every track in the game, Fresh is now the first to do so.
Back in the Ludum Dare prototype, both Bopeebo and Fresh did not have any moments where the characters harmonized. This was due to the game following Ludum Dare 47's theme, "Stuck in a Loop." To keep the rhythm game aspect while keeping close to the theme, the 2 songs made at the time were composed and charted so that the player would only ever need to repeat the note patterns done by Daddy Dearest. After the game was released on Newgrounds, however, DadBattle, as well as most other tracks from that point on, would include moments of harmonization.
DadBattle and South were the first songs to have their ERECT mode remixes uploaded, with both being uploaded on the 29th of December, 2021.
Later, these songs would be altered before the WeekEnd 1 update released.
DadBattle's ERECT remix is tied with Thorns and its ERECT remix for the fastest song released thus far.
DadBattle's main melody sounds similar to the chorus of the song "World's End Dance Hall" composed by wowaka and sung by Hatsune Miku and Megurine Luka.[1]
DadBattle (Pico Mix) was leaked ahead of its release through an old GitHub commit.[2] It had some minor differences: a "plop" sound could be heard at the beginning (and oddly enough, it was actually part of the vocal tracks), and it was followed by a voice (likely Saruky) saying, "This is a Friday Funkin'... placeholder! Bleh!". Additionally, some of Pico's vocals were tuned around the 0:42–0:47 time mark, and one of the "hey" samples heard in the leaked version is removed in the final version.
Saruky posted the isolated placeholder voice clip on his Twitter account.[3]
The "hey" sounds heard in DadBattle (Pico Mix) have the same voice settings as Pico, due to them being part of his vocal track. This is also the case for Bopeebo (Pico Mix).
Interestingly, around the 1:20 mark of DadBattle (Pico Mix), Daddy Dearest's vocal track features Boyfriend's echo from the original version of the song.
In 0.5.0, DadBattle (Pico Mix) did not have charts for the Easy and Normal difficulties; this resulted in the player receiving a 0% accuracy score when the song ended, and thus a loss. This was fixed in 0.5.1.
