Trivia

  • Darnell, Lit Up and 2hot were accidentally leaked late March 2022 through a link to the test build of an unreleased update found in the GitHub repository for Friday Night Funkin'.[1][2] The songs were confirmed to be real as PhantomArcade revealed that IvanAlmighty was the one who did the voice for Darnell in these songs.[3]
    • While the song remains mostly the same, there are some differences between the leaked version of the song and the finalized version that appears in WeekEnd 1 that make the final version sound considerably different overall.
      • The audio mixing was slightly tweaked, and some instruments were altered or removed during certain sections.
      • The length of the song has been slightly extended from 1:56 to 2:07 due to a new bar being introduced at the end of the song.
      • New instruments, such as a wind instrument, and sound effects like a knife-slashing sound were added.
      • There are now several pauses throughout the instrumental.
  • Saruky teased a snippet of the instrumental for Darnell (BF Mix) on Twitter on the 12th of July, 2024.[4]
  • Saruky posted one of the work in progress (WIP) versions of Darnell (BF Mix) on Twitter on the 14th of September, 2024.[5] This WIP still uses the vocals from the regular version, likely as stand-ins due to the remixed vocals not being finished at the time.
  • Kawai Sprite posted a snippet of the instrumental to Darnell ERECT on the 8th of November, 2024, to one of his social media accounts.[6]
  • The first five seconds of Darnell ERECT is the exact same as the base song. Due to this, EliteMasterEric, when importing the song into the game, originally thought this was an error and tried to debug it.[7]
  • According to an interview by Pitchfork, Darnell ERECT is the "craziest tune that [Kawai Sprite]'s ever done."[8]
