Throughout the track, Daddy Dearest and Mommy Mearest alternate between themselves while singing the song. The same effect occurs during the previous track, Cocoa.
At the end of the track in ERECT mode, a short in-game cutscene plays in which Mall Santa comments that the song was the most beautiful thing he had heard in his whole life, before shortly being shot dead by Daddy Dearest and falling to the ground.
Easy difficulty was recharted, altering its note count from 164 to 153.
Trivia
Both Cocoa and Eggnog were created for Week 5 and were released on Friday Night Funkin' OST, Vol. 1 on the 25th of December, 2020, to serve as a teaser for the game's Christmas update. Due to time constraints, however, the week was delayed, and the tracks would not officially appear in-game until the Week 5 update on the 20th of January, 2021.
Eggnog is ninjamuffin99's least favorite song in Friday Night Funkin', though he still finds it cute and fun.[1]
The chimes in the intro of Eggnog would originally fade in; however, this was changed in the WeekEnd 1 update, as the chimes' volume remains equal. Additionally, the song originally ended a bit earlier.
This makes Eggnog the fifth song to be slightly altered after its initial release. The first was Tutorial, the second was Bopeebo, the third was Fresh, the fourth was Cocoa, the sixth was Senpai and the seventh was Roses.
Eggnog is currently the only song to have a different ending if the song is completed in ERECT mode.

Although Eggnog ERECT is the only ERECT remix where this is the case, Cocoa ERECT's original melodies are also slower than its regular version.
With an ending tempo of 80 BPM, Eggnog ERECT is currently the slowest song in the game. The second slowest song is Monster, with a beginning tempo of 95 BPM. Tutorial, Bopeebo and Cocoa are tied for third place with a tempo of 100 BPM.
