Trivia

  • When Week 3 was announced, the trailer started with text that reads, "Your computer is unable to process the immense amounts of notes flying around the screen at this time. The genocide will be over in just a moment. Thank you." This is a reference to the text that appears before the title card of Pico's School, which appears after Cassandra shoots the teacher in the beginning cutscene; the Week 3 version of the text remains relatively the same as the original, except it says "notes" instead of "blood".[1]
  • Parts of this song contain a leitmotif of "ENDLESS HANDBAG", commonly known as the Newgrounds theme song.[2] In particular, the leitmotif is based on the original 8-second loop[3] and is heard multiple times throughout the track.[4]
  • Pico is the second song to be named after the opponent, the first being Monster, the third being Senpai and the fourth being Darnell.
    • Additionally, this is the only song to be named after both the opponent and their week.
  • Laughing sounds can be heard throughout the song's instrumental, which, according to a Tweet by PhantomArcade, were made by him and Spazkid (Cory). The laughs come from leftover audio from something that PhantomArcade and Spazkid recorded, which PhantomArcade gave to Kawai Sprite, who ended up using it in the song.[5]
  • Supposed "lyrics" for the song have been revealed in the art booklet that comes with the CD of Friday Night Funkin' - The Official Soundtrack Vol. 1. However, it is most likely a joke making fun of people who believed there were actual lyrics to the song (despite Monster being the only opponent who sings real words), as there are no lyrics to Philly Nice and Blammed to go along with it.
    • The first line in the "lyrics" is "Go Pico go yeah yeah go Pico oh", referencing fans often thinking that Pico and Boyfriend sound like they are singing some variation of those words in the first verse. Fanmade videos featuring interpretations of the song's lyrics often use such words for the first verse, to the point of the "lyric" becoming a meme in the fandom.
  • When Friday Night Funkin' OST Vol. 3 was initially leaked via DistroKid hours before the WeekEnd 1 update released, the ERECT remix of Pico had slightly different vocals from the final version, mainly during Boyfriend's freestyle section; while Boyfriend sings the same notes heard in the final version, his vocal sounds are notably different. The vocals were changed some time just before the update officially released.[6]
  • The Pico remix was teased in the animated Roadmap trailer.[7]
  • The Pico remix was noticeably absent when Friday Night Funkin', Vol. 4 (Original Game Soundtrack) released on streaming platforms.
